Fixed on the balcony and mounted to a wall on one side, the pergola provides an effective shading solution that integrates smoothly with the villa’s design. The homeowners wanted a system that would allow them to enjoy their outdoor space comfortably, whether in the sun or during rainy weather. **Client’s Requirements** The homeowners needed a shading system that could adapt to Dubai’s hot and unpredictable weather. Their focus was on a structure that could offer shade from the sun, promote airflow when desired, and protect against rain, all while complementing the architecture of their villa. **Our Solution: Sierra Bioclimatic Pergola** The Sierra Bioclimatic Pergola was chosen for its adaptable design. It features adjustable louvers that can be tilted to allow airflow or closed to block the sun or rain. Key elements of the installation included: - **Rain Gutters**: These were built into the design to ensure proper drainage and prevent water from collecting. - **Remote-Controlled Louvers**: The system is equipped with a Somfy controller, allowing the homeowners to adjust the louvers effortlessly. - **LED Spotlights**: The pergola includes integrated LED spotlights, which are also controlled remotely for convenience. **Key Features of the Sierra Pergola** - **Customisation**: Custom-made in the UAE, the aluminium frame was powder-coated to match the villa’s aesthetic while ensuring durability. - **Flexible Sizing**: The pergola was designed to fit the balcony with a width and projection of up to 500 cm, providing the necessary coverage. - **Lighting Integration**: In addition to the spotlights, the system allows for future integration with RGB or pendant lights, giving the homeowners flexibility for additional lighting options. - **Weather Sensors**: The pergola can also be equipped with wind and [rain sensors](https://theshadingcompany.ae/product/ondeis-somfy-rts-wirless-sun-and-rain-sensor/) that automatically adjust the louvers for extra convenience during varying weather conditions.
