Cantilever Umbrellas

Cantilever Umbrellas

We stock a range of Cantilever umbrellas and hanging umbrellas in Dubai. These Parasols feature a base fixed to the side and canopy providing shade. We offer various models including offset and hanging versions which all have different features required for specific customer requirements. These umbrellas are ideal for gardens, patios and the Beach in Dubai and the UAE.

These side arm cantilever models withstand windy conditions differently. Heavy duty models like the Fortano are rated to 55 km/h and the Sirius to 60 km/h.

Models and options

The Ambiente Nova and Fortano are built for commercial and restaurant use.

We offer multiple options including the Sunflex back tilting cantilever umbrella and the Sombrano S+ with its side tilting feature. 360 rotation comes as standard. These cantilever umbrellas can be customised with alternative canopies and logo branding is possible. High wind speed umbrellas are available such as the Fortano or Sirius models. Our premium models, such as the Ambiente Nova, are made in Europe by Glatz, as are the Glatz Castello and Palazzo giant umbrellas. Most models come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

How to choose a cantilever umbrella

Where it goes. For a villa garden or pool deck, a 3 metre model like the Sunflex, Familyflex or Varioflex covers a lounge set or two sunbeds. For a café terrace or hotel pool, choose a stronger model such as the Sombrano S+ or Fortano, and for a large seating area the 4 metre Galileo Maxi or the double canopy Fortano Duo.

Wind. Cantilevers catch more wind than centre pole umbrellas. If your garden is exposed or near the sea, choose a model rated 45 km/h or more. See our guide to the Shamal wind.

Following the sun. All our cantilevers rotate 360°. The Sunflex and Sirius tilt backwards, the Sombrano S+ tilts to the side, and the Varioflex tilts both ways, so you can keep shade on the same spot from morning to evening.

Base or fixing. Most models come with a tile base. If space is tight or the umbrella stays in one place, a floor mounting plate gives a cleaner look; see the Fortano on a carport.

Not sure? Compare with centre pole umbrellas, or visit our Al Quoz display to open and tilt them yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a cantilever umbrella cost in Dubai?

A 3 metre garden cantilever such as the Sunflex or Familyflex starts at about AED 1,700 including VAT and the base. Models with side tilt or higher wind ratings, such as the Sombrano S+ and Fortano, are AED 6,000 to 8,000, and large commercial umbrellas like the 4x4 metre Galileo Maxi are around AED 19,000. Current prices for each model are shown on this page.

What base weight does a cantilever umbrella need?

Our 3 metre garden models come with a 120 kg tile base. Larger canopies and commercial umbrellas use a 180 kg base, the double canopy Fortano Duo uses 240 kg, and any model can be fixed to the floor with a mounting plate or ground socket. Because the canopy hangs off to one side, a cantilever always needs a heavier base than a centre pole umbrella of the same size.

Can I leave a cantilever umbrella open in the Shamal?

No. Each model has a wind rating, from 30 km/h for the Sunflex to 55 km/h for the Fortano and 60 km/h for the Sirius. Close the umbrella when the wind gets near that speed and whenever it is left unattended. Our guide to the Shamal wind explains when the strong winds come.

Can I put a cantilever umbrella on a roof terrace or top floor?

We don't recommend it. Wind gets stronger the higher you go up a building, and cantilever umbrellas can be unstable in high wind. For a roof or upper floor choose a centre pole umbrella such as the Fortello, Fortero or Gastrofit. See cantilever umbrellas on a rooftop.

Should I choose a cantilever or a centre pole umbrella?

Choose a cantilever when you want shade over a lounge set, sunbeds or a dining table without a pole in the middle, or when you want to tilt and turn the shade as the sun moves. A centre pole umbrella is lighter, cheaper for the same canopy size and better in strong wind, so it suits restaurant tables and windy terraces.

How long does delivery take?

Umbrellas in stock are delivered and installed across the UAE in 2 to 5 days. Made to order models take 3 to 5 weeks, and some Glatz models up to 12 weeks.
