Shade Sails installed in Jumeirah Islands

This Jumeirah Islands villa has a long pool and garden run that needed shade without a solid roof structure closing the space in. Three shade sails were specified to cover the area in stages, following the shape of the pool and seating rather than forcing a single large span.

The sails combine wall mounting on one side with freestanding posts on the other, a common setup where the boundary wall can take load but the open side of the garden needs its own support. Steel tensioned cables run through the fabric edges, keeping each sail taut and stable rather than relying on the fabric alone to hold shape.

The result is broad coverage across the pool deck and garden path with minimal visual weight. Unlike a pergola or fixed roof, sails let light and air move through the space while still cutting the harshest sun.
